Parisian Retreat Residence: A Paris-Inspired First Apartment in Manhattan
Designing a Parisian-inspired apartment in Manhattan is always special—especially when it’s a young couple’s very first home in New York City. For this project, the clients’ love for Paris became the guiding inspiration. The goal was to create a light, elegant, and welcoming residence infused with Parisian interior design, while fully embracing the energy and views of Manhattan.
The result is a home that feels romantic yet practical, refined yet comfortable—where European interior design influences blend seamlessly with modern luxury interior design in NYC.

A Parisian Welcome in the Foyer
The foyer sets the tone immediately. Light wallpaper brings softness and brightness to the entry, creating an elegant backdrop for a sculptural curvy grasscloth console table. A brass mirror above adds warmth, reflection, and a classic Parisian touch. This layered composition creates an inviting, timeless welcome—an essential element of a Parisian style apartment in New York.
A Comfortable Living Room with Parisian Flair
The living room continues the home’s light and airy aesthetic with a refined light oak and ivory color palette, forming a calm and sophisticated foundation. Subtle touches of black, introduced through a sculptural floor lamp and a statement stool, add contrast and modern definition.
A vintage mid-century modern chair, upholstered in an African-inspired ivory and black fabric, brings character, texture, and soul to the space. A round travertine coffee table anchors the seating area, layered over a plush rug that enhances comfort and warmth.
A classic Parisian-style stone fireplace mantel serves as a timeless focal point, topped with a refined brass mirror that reflects light and adds understated glamour. Romantic artwork in a soft, painterly palette completes the room, reinforcing the European sensibility while framing beautiful New York views.
A Dining Room Inspired by Parisian Cafés
The dining room is designed as a lively yet elegant space inspired by the charm of Parisian cafés. Lush greenery, including a plush green wall, brings freshness and depth, creating a strong connection to nature—an essential element of European interior design in Manhattan.
A custom fluted oak sideboard anchors the room, thoughtfully integrating a much-needed wine cooler while maintaining a clean, tailored look. Opposite, a floating bookcase set against a light graphic wallpaper adds visual interest and a curated, lived-in feel. A dramatic pendant light suspended over the dining table creates a striking focal point, elevating everyday meals and entertaining alike.
A Serene Bedroom Retreat
The bedroom serves as a calming escape from the city’s energy. Soft pastel wallpaper introduces gentle color and visual softness, creating a serene and restful environment. The overall design emphasizes comfort, tranquility, and understated elegance—making it the perfect retreat at the end of a busy New York day.
A Light and Airy Home Office with Manhattan Views
The home office is a bright and inspiring workspace with open views of Manhattan. Bathed in natural light, the space feels calm and uplifting—ideal for focus and creativity. Soft neutrals are accented with tones of green, introduced through a comfortable velvet desk chair and real greenery along the window, bringing freshness and life into the room.
Just beyond, a welcoming balcony extends the living space outdoors, offering a peaceful retreat above the city. Designed with flexibility in mind, this area can easily double as a guest bedroom, a thoughtful solution for first apartment interior design in NYC, where versatility is key.
