My Favorite Outdoor Daybeds!

Imagine your very own outdoor living area, with not only seating, but an outdoor daybed on which to nap! Heaven!!

Most have steel frame construction with a resin or wicker weave that would definitely survive the elements.

Although you may possibly think indoors is the place for a bedroom, the way to utilize your backyard as a private retreat is to recreate all the primary indoor living areas.

With our current economy, the new thinking is to refine our own backyards, rather than taking expensive vacations elsewhere. A lot of the population already has in ground or above ground pools, landscaped spaces, outdoor kitchen facilities to some degree, and at the very minimum a picnic table. The addition of an outdoor daybed adds another “room” to the private retreat.

Sure, hammocks were the outdoor “bedroom” of the past, but getting in or out of one, was a challenge. An advantage to an outdoor daybed is that they are stationary. They are also at a reasonable height for any age to gain access. They can be sighted anywhere in the outdoor space and most are unique enough in appearance to be a focal point. An added bonus is that they provide additional seating to the “living room” of the yard.

Nothing is more appealing than the thought of sinking into the cushions of an outdoor daybed on a hot, lazy summer afternoon, while the spouse is cooking on the grill, of course. Another vision is reclining on one with a spectacular sunset in front of you. Ok, back to reality, it is a treat to dream of outdoor daybeds when there is a foot of snow outside.

Which one is your favorite?

Designed by Vladimir Kagan, the Barlow Tyrie Dune Daybed creates a peaceful and soothing corner where you can relax and enjoy the summer months.

Take it indoors or out, the Sushi Daybed by Vivavi is an eye-catching addition to any setting. Hand-woven water hyacinth is wrapped tightly around a durable rattan frame to create this unique home furnishing.

The Ragatta Day Bed is the most striking daybed in the Lifeshop Collection. The looming arch adds a touch of class to the bed. I particularly like the way the frame wraps the foot of the day bed. The framing is done in teak. The seat is plush and cozy, with detachable cuddly cushions. To sum up, it is an elegant, stylish, modern piece of furniture that will transform any room and redefine comfort.
