Webster Green: Living With Benjamin Moore's 2027 Color of the Year

A green with conviction
Benjamin Moore has named Webster Green its Color of the Year 2027. It is a deep, sophisticated jewel-tone green that the brand calls "a confident hue with undeniable personality."
I was delighted when I saw it. For years, clients have asked me for calm, and too often calm meant grey. Webster Green offers calm with depth. It feels like a library in Paris, a garden in Martinique after the rain, a room that has been loved for a long time.
It also fits where design is heading. Homes are getting warmer, richer and more personal, with darker woods, layered pattern and a lived-in look. A green this rich belongs in that story.

The Feng Shui view: green is the Wood element
In Feng Shui, green belongs to the Wood element, the energy of growth, renewal and vitality. Think of a young tree reaching upward: steady, flexible and always becoming.
A deep green like Webster Green carries that energy in a grounded, mature way. It feels less like spring and more like an old forest. That makes it supportive rather than stimulating, which is ideal for homes that need to feel both alive and restful.
Wood is nourished by Water and is balanced by Metal. Keep that in mind as you style: a touch of black or deep blue strengthens the green, and a little brass or white keeps it from feeling heavy.
Webster Green room guide: where to use Benjamin Moore’s 2027 Color of the Year
Where to use it
The Wood element is most at home in the East (family and health) and Southeast (wealth and abundance) areas of the bagua. Start there if you want the color to work on more than looks alone.

What to pair it with
Benjamin Moore's 2027 Color Trends palette gives Webster Green seven companions:
Neutrals: White Down, Antique Copper, Shakespeare Tan
Soft pastels: Nelson Blue, Wild Aster
Deep jewel tones: Durango, Townsend Harbor Brown
My favorite pairings go beyond paint:
Woods: walnut, espresso oak and burl. Darker woods are replacing pale white oak, and they make this green glow.
Metals: aged brass and antique copper. They add warmth and bring in the balancing Metal element.
Textiles: velvet, bouclé, linen and wool in caramel, cinnamon, ivory and blush.
Pattern: a small check, a stripe or a botanical print, layered loosely rather than matched.
From the Collection: [link pillows and throws in caramel, ivory or rust tones here].

Not ready to paint? Start small
You don't need to commit a whole room to feel this color's energy.
Textiles first. Add green velvet pillows or a throw to a neutral sofa.
One piece. Bring in an upholstered chair, an ottoman or a lamp in deep green.
Living Wood. Real plants are the purest expression of the Wood element. Place one in the East or Southeast of the room.
A painted surprise. Paint the inside of a bookcase, a door or a ceiling.
Art. Choose a botanical or landscape piece where green leads.

Let your home grow with you
Webster Green isn't a color for a passing moment. It is a color for rooms meant to be lived in, gathered in and grown in.
