The Design Process

The Cayenne Lounge Chair and Ottoman are a deft homage to mid 20th century design. Marie Burgos has taken the clean lines that defined seating designs of that era and given them a luxurious new simplicity.

“Cayenne” is an exotic name for a chair,  why did you call it this way?

Cayenne is a french tropical city in South America, it gave his name to a few hot products from hot pepper to powerful SUVs ('sport utility vehicle').

The cayenne chair was first presented in a spicy orange color, it has something of a race car and the tropical heritage round legs in its DNA.

Le tray Table

We have been working around the “le tray table” round legs trying to bring the shape into other elements for the collection. The real challenge was to keep it simple and timeless.

Shapes

We used simple shapes keeping in mind we wanted a low seating for a lounge style.

Have you encountered any difficulties during the process?

The road of design

is paved with difficulties from deadlines to get over prototypes, finding the right seating firmness to balancing proportions and volumes, but that what makes the experience so unique for us.
