The little Red Sideboard in your interior

I love Red furniture pieces. Red is not only a fabulous color but it is also considered the luckiest color by the Asian community. So it is good Feng Shui to have red in your home!

I have selected beautiful sideboards to attract that extra luck and give a zest of vitality and happiness to your living space!

Check out this beautiful red antique sideboard above paired with art work to match it harmoniously.

Below, Designer Molly Luetkemeyer has used that fabulous reddish sideboard in a very Hollywood glamour setting. It works so magically with the long curved sofa.

Red is a vibrant and stimulating color that is believed to bring good fortune and happiness.

Red is a very bold color which sometimes intimidate people. They are not sure how to use it in design and are afraid it will look too much of a strong color.

It can actually really affect people moods, making shy people more courageous for example. It also brings passion and excitement to people’s life. Red can really make people feel empowered.

In Feng Shui, Red is a fire color that will bring new prospects ahead and enhance energies. It is also associated with the recognition and fame.

In design, I always recommend using red to bring warmth and comfort to a room. There are multitude shades of red so depending of the room and the habitants tastes  a cranberry red, an orange red, a burgundy red, just to cite a few, can be used.

Sometimes to create drama or warmth, you can paint an accent wall in red . You can also paint an entire room red as long as the furniture pieces of the room are in a more neutral color.

Also, red can be used for major pieces of furniture in the room to make a dramatic statement or bring sexiness to the room or Red can just be infused in a room through accessories or lighting.

Using too much red in a room where occupants don’t want to feel exited is not a good idea. For instance if your child has excess energy, it is not recommended to paint his bedroom in red.

Often red is used in dining rooms, Kitchens, and even restaurants. This is a great color to increase appetite.

Many shades of Blue!

Elle Decor

Blue brings to mind a beautiful sky in summer and the calmness of a still turquoise sea.

Its coolness helps people relax and take life at a more leisurely pace.

Blue is one of the easiest colors to decorate with. Blue will appeal to a wide range of people because it is a calm and relaxing color.

In Feng Shui, blue corresponds to the water element. This element connects to flowing water, so if you place a water feature in a water room, you are balancing the existing  energies there. Water is a support for the career area of your home. Water is also a also seen as a positive activator that can help accumulate wealth, increasing your prosperity, as it is always moving positive Chi energy around the home.

Blue is a soothing color. Emotionally, it can help release tensions and help you unwind.

You might not want to use Blue in an already cold space, because it will tend to cool a room even more. You also may not want to use it in a room without much natural light as darker shades of blue can sometimes feel depressing and gloomy.

Blue accommodates  very well with Browns as this color is much warmer and balances the coolness of the blue creating a better balance. Blue and Brown make a perfect color combination for a sophisticated office or living room design.

White is also a good color to use with Blue. It will give a very fresh and clean look to any room. You think summer house holidays with this refreshing combination of colors…

Ever wondered how many shades of blue existed?

Well...there are many... some of the most used are: Azure blue, Indigo blue, Cyan blue, Turquoise blue, Teal blue, Navy blue, Sapphire blue, Steel Blue, Midnight Blue, Ultramarine blue, Baby blue...

Using Feng Shui Cures in your home office for success

lovely-blue-office.png

Placement of objects in a particular area or quadrant of your office or desk can enhance the energy to various aspects of your life. To understand where the various quadrants of your desk are, consider where you sit as the front of the desk. For example, as you sit facing your desk, the wealth quadrant would be the upper left corner. Here's a few cures for your office:

Get rid of clutter in your home or office. Eliminating clutter will begin to clear away certain problems in your life and make room for something new and desirable to enter.

The wealth quadrant or upper left corner is the most important part of your home office or desk. Place a crystal bowl or a healthy plant in this area to enrich this area of your business.

A red object such as red flowers placed in the upper left corner of your office or desk can bring financial success-placed in the back center portion of your office or desk can bring fame.

Place a medium-sized rug in the center of your office. A deep blue, black, or other dark color rug in the middle of the office is like a deep pool of water upon which to rest the eyes and reflect.

If you don't have a view outside from where you sit, hang a plant or a picture of a plant in your line of view to bring the outdoors inside for a calming effect.

Never place anything blue in the fame quadrant or back center portion of your office or desk--you will be drowning your fame.

It takes money to make money, so pay attention to the quality of things you put into your office. You should only have objects that are truly meaningful to you in your home office.

Though a complex science and art, many of the principles of feng shui are common sense and based on intuition. When incorporating these principles into your home office, aim for simplicity, think creatively, and trust your intuition. Imagine being drawn to your office because you feel comfortable and relaxed. This results in a flow of creative energy which leads to an increase in productivity which ultimately leads to success and prosperity.

Using Color in Your Office

yellow-office.png

Color research shows that people are stimulated in specific ways by different colors. Feng shui uses color as a cure to promote the appropriate energy for a space. That's why it's important to pick a color based on the tasks you will be performing. For example:

Yellow stimulates clarity of thought, creativity, and mental activity--making it an excellent color for a home office. Yellow also promotes discipline, which anyone working in a home office needs.

Red is an aggressive color, so it's a good choice for anyone making deals or selling, and for those who entertain clients in their office.

A blue-green color can be soothing, yet creative--a good color choice for writers.

Oranges and other warm desert colors stimulate socialization and collaboration--good for a small office using a team approach to management.

Your ceiling should be painted a light color--a dark color will make you feel as if there's a dark cloud hanging over your head while you work.

What color do I paint my front door?

red-front-door.png

Traditionally, in Feng Shui, the door is painted red. Since the house in feng shui is sometimes seen as the body, the door is considered the tongue and when it sticks out, it’s like the red carpet at the Oscars; hot and fiery and where a lot of positive energy can find you. However, it’s not always pleasing to the eye to use red since it might not compliment the exterior palette. The door is the point of entry and in my opinion, it should be bright and happy, something that lifts your heart to the sky. Since I’m not a traditionalist and always consider how the heart feels, I would advise you to consider how a black door might feel to you. And if it feels right, go for it.
