Designing with Brown

Designing with shades of brown and tan is very safe and has a classy look. It is probably easier to decorate with brown tones than with any other colors. If you don't like to take risks with your decorating, brown would be a good color to start with.Brown is a warm color that makes people feel safe and comfortable. Brown is neutral and won't clash with other colors, which makes is very easy to use. Brown is of course a very natural color, which humans have been surrounded by in nature for ages. Brown is classic and will always look good, no matter what other trends are happening.

In Feng Shui, Brown color represent the feng shui element of wood and it is best used in the following feng shui Bagua areas: Health & Family,  Wealth & Abundance, and Fame & Reputation

It has a nourishing feng shui energy, and it comes in an array of rich tones and is associated with yummy dark chocolate, gourmet coffee and beautiful mahogany wood.

It is an excellent feng shui color choice for the main entry, the kitchen, or as a feature wall in the living room or bedroom. Avoid a predominant Brown color scheme in the children bedroom.

A space that has too much Brown color may lead to its inhabitants lacking the ambition and the drive to go forward in life, thus it is always a good feng shui idea to keep Brown well-balanced with other colors.

Make sure you don't use too much dark brown unless the room you are designing is well lit. If there is not very good lighting in a room, try painting the walls a light tan, and use dark brown for your accent pieces.

Designing with Purple

Purple is royalty. A mysterious color, purple is associated with both nobility and spirituality. The opposites of hot red and cool blue combine to create this intriguing color.

Purple has a special, almost sacred place in nature: lavender, orchid, lilac, and violet flowers are often delicate and considered precious. Because purple is derived from the mixing of a strong warm and strong cool color it has both warm and cool properties. A purple room can boost a child's imagination or an artist's creativity. Too much purple, like blue, could result in moodiness.

Deep or bright purples suggest riches while lighter purples are more romantic and delicate. Use redder purples for a warmer color scheme or the bluer purples to cool down.

Feng shui-wise, it is not recommended as a wall color. Many feng shui masters believe that color Purple on the wall (or an overwhelming amount of it in any feng shui decor applications) may trigger blood disease. True or not, Purple is a very high vibration color and the feng shui advice is to use it sparingly.

The only feng shui spaces purple color can be used freely are a healing room or a meditation space. Use in moderation throughout your home or go for much lighter color tones, like lavender.

An excellent way to bring the royal Purple in your environment is with Amethyst, one of the most powerful feng shui crystals.

Purple is a color you can use in the wealth area (Far left hand side corner from the door) of the Bagua to attract money and prosperity.

Any dull, dark room with little sunlight will greatly benefit from a Yellow based feng shui scheme to compensate for the lack of light and bring the gentle warmth of the sun. Designing with Blue

Blue brings to mind a beautiful sky in summer and the calmness of a still turquoise sea.

Its coolness helps people relax and take life at a more leisurely pace.

Blue is one of the easiest colors to decorate with. Blue will appeal to a wide range of people because it is a calm and relaxing color.

In Feng Shui, blue corresponds to the water element. This element connects to flowing water, so if you place a water feature in a water room, you are balancing the existing  energies there. Water is a support for the career area of your home. Water is also a also seen as a positive activator that can help accumulate wealth, increasing your prosperity, as it is always moving positive Chi energy around the home.

Blue is a soothing color. Emotionally, it can help to release tensions and help you unwind.

You might not want to use Blue in a already cold space, because it will tend to cool a room even more. You also may not want to use it in a room without much natural light as darker shades of blue can sometimes feel depressing and gloomy.
